Meredith Salenger

Salenger was born and grew up within Malibu, California. She was an avid child and enjoyed performing in front of her family and friends. Her mother took her to her first class in acting when she was eight years old. The actress played the role in the film as "a dancing and singing orphan" in John Huston's feature film Annie. Salenger has also appeared in a range of TV commercials. Salenger's debut starring role came part of her role in the Disney movie The Journey of Natty Gann which starred John Cusack and Ray Wise The film was the first US film to be awarded the golden award in the Moscow Film Festival. In addition, she won "Best Female actor in a dramatic" at the Youth in Film Awards in the recognition of her character as the charming Natty. She starred in four other movies before turning age 18.
